  Falcon can be operated both in light aircraft and also without limitations in helicopters. The system was designed for use under the tough conditions of the aviation industry.   Falcon possesses the following practical features of operational use of a LIDAR system:
  • Uninterrupted use for generation of elevation models - 24 hours a day
  • Use for generation of RGB/CIR true ortho images almost from sunrise to sunset
  • Minimum shadow effects due to the narrow angular field of the laser scanner, particularly important in urban and wooded areas
  • No need for calibration following factory acceptance
  • Use in aircraft without a pressure cabin
  • Efficient use even with 100% cloud coverage, which in Europe is normally at 3,500-5,000 ft = 1,050-1,500 m above ground level
  • Eye safety of the laser scanner from 0.5 m
