The calibration of a LIDAR system serves for the very precise angle measurement of each laser beam emitted for determining distance. The accuracy and reliability attained in this process is reflected directly in the quality of the generated elevation models. With many laserscanners this calibration operation has to be repeated frequently, in some circumstances even for each single flight.

Falcon is the only airborne LIDAR system worldwide which requires no calibration after initial operation by the client. This feature saves resources and has been achieved by TopoSys thanks to the fiber scanner technology employed and an extremely stable mechanical design.
